Henry’s Place is an incredible place to work! We are changing young lives, and God regularly uses this ministry to further His kingdom in the lives of youth who attend camp.

Development Plan

Our goal is to provide life-changing experiences that will equip them to succeed in facing the challenges of growing up in the inner-city.

Twenty Years of Legacy. Ten Years of Camp. One Faithful God.

Dear Friends of Henry’s Place,

On February 1, 2026, we pause together to remember and honor a life that continues to shape countless others.

This date marks 20 years since the passing of Sgt. Henry Prendes—a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and friend—who gave his life in the line of duty on February 1, 2006. While the years have passed, Henry’s legacy has never faded. Instead, it has grown into something only God could
orchestrate.

Jesus tells us in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Henry lived this truth through his service, his faith, and his unwavering commitment to protecting and loving others. His sacrifice was an act of courage—and an act of love.

This year also marks 10 years of summer camp ministry at Henry’s Place, a place born from grief, sustained by faith, and filled with hope. Founded in Henry’s honor, Henry’s Place exists to serve at-risk and foster youth from Southern Nevada and Southern Utah by providing free Christian summer
camp experiences rooted in love, belonging, and the message of Jesus Christ.

Located in Cedar City, Utah, Henry’s Place Camp & Retreat Center includes a 9,000-square-foot Main Lodge, camper cabins, amphitheaters, a challenge course, disc golf, and wide-open spaces where hearts are opened and lives are changed. Last summer alone, 158 campers attended over
11 weeks, and to date, more than 500 young people have experienced hope, mentorship, and spiritual growth—at no cost to their families.

When Henry’s Place began, it was never just about remembrance. It was about obedience. About continuing the life Henry lived—one of service, joy, and faith in action.

Jesus also reminds us in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” That promise anchors us. Henry’s earthly life ended far too soon, but his life in Christ—and the fruit of it—continues to bring light to dark places.

As we reflect on these milestones, we invite you to pause with us—to remember Henry, to thank God for His faithfulness, and to pray for the children who will walk through our gates this coming summer. If you feel led, you may also consider supporting the mission of Henry’s Place, helping ensure that camp remains free and accessible for every child God brings to us.

Your prayers, generosity, and encouragement make this ministry possible.

Thank you for remembering Henry—not only for how he died, but for how he lived, and for helping us ensure that his story continues to point others to Christ.

With gratitude and hope,
Dawn Prendes Morris
