We FOCUS ON CHRIST in everything
Henry’s Place focuses on Christ in all things in a manner consistent with our understanding of the Bible, especially as expounded in the Henry’s Place Statement of Faith (www.HenrysPlace.org/what-we-believe). We align all of our corporate actions with Biblical principle, in order to bring glory to Christ in all we do. Faithfulness supersedes financial, marketing, and business expediency concerns. Where orthodoxy is not generally established within the evangelical Protestant community, we corporately seek unity in essentials, liberty in non-essentials and love in all things.
We PRAY foundationally
We understand that our success at Henry’s Place is wholly dependent on God’s provision and so we pray.
We LOVE selflessly
In our conduct toward each other, toward volunteers, toward donors, toward campers, and toward clients, we strive to put others’ needs before our own and to do so sacrificially, as demonstrated by our namesake, Sgt Prendes, and by our Lord, Jesus Christ. In the context of our mission, this means we tangibly express the love of God to our campers and our retreat guests.
We value INTEGRITY
Integrity involves truthfulness and acting above reproach both in public and in private. We strive to be truthful in all circumstances, even if truth is costly or potentially damaging. We are careful not to allow our words to imply anything that is untrue, misleading, or deceitful. Additionally, Board Members and Staff (full-time, seasonal, and volunteer) are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that avoids discredit to Henry’s Place or to our Lord.
We strive for EXCELLENCE
Henry’s Place activities, programs, and facilities aspire to a standard that is above “average” and which strives for excellence in all practical aspects. In pursuit of excellence, we seek to exceed cultural norms in conduct, aesthetics, and product/program delivery.
We IMPACT campers
We are not about “running camp” but rather are focused on “impacting lives”. Accordingly, we make programming, structural, and resource investment decisions commensurate with a goal of changing young lives by immersing them in a loving environment and exposing them to the truth in God’s word.
We HONOR Donors
We honor donors by communicating our explicit thanks, by using funds wisely and to further the purposes for which they were donated, and by communicating to donors the impact that their funds have on the lives that Henry’s Place touches.
We are faithful STEWARDS
We view all of our resources (whether funds, people’s time, or physical contributions) as gifts from God which we are charged to steward in a way that best accomplishes the Henry’s Place mission. This means that we safeguard resources and utilize those resources in order to maximize mission impact while minimizing waste and inefficiency.
We are WISE risk-takers
Recognizing that acceptance of risk is Biblically and practically essential in life and that many camp activities inherently involve risk, we evaluate risks by weighing the probability and extent of attendant growth opportunities against both the probability and the foreseeable extent of potential unwanted outcomes.
